My name is Ray and I admit to being a hard core fly fisherman.  I have fished extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, Brazil and the Bahamas over the years.  Although I have done a lot of fishing over my years, I can report that a few trips with Captain Stubbe have me coming back for more! Hello my name is Mike A. and I recently made a trip with Captain Scooby on Toledo Bend Reservoir in Deep East Texas on the Texas/Louisiana border. This is not your everyday fishing trip on Toledo Bend. We had not gone far and we were jumping stumps and rolling over logs. Not to worry because we were in a Gator Tail Boat that Captain Scooby had designed from top to bottom to go anywhere he wants. Read more.

I always wanted to fish Toledo Bend but not knowing the area I decided to go out with a guide or someone that knew the lake. I had heard about a guy (Captain Scooby) that had a boat that could get you anywhere on the lake. I decided to give him a try. This turned out to be the best choice I have ever made going out with Captain Scooby or any guide on any lake before. Read More.

My first guided fishing trip was to Houma, Louisiana with Captain Steve “Scooby” Stubbe. It was a Redfish Tournament sponsored by Gator Tail. The trip was something I will never forget. Captain Scooby was very knowledgeable about fishing techniques and theories. He was very giving with his information and wanted me to catch fish. Read More.

I have fished with Scooby for the past 11 years. He is quite the joker and prankster so the trips have never been dull. We have fished fresh and salt water with excellent results. Scooby is very knowledgeable and skilled with all types of fishing tackle and boat operation. Read More.

I fished with Capt. Steve (Scooby) one evening and the following morning. I highly recommend this type of trip to all. I have never experienced “back country” fishing and this was a fun trip. Lots of fishing, adventure, wildlife and entertaining stories.

Brian Elliott called and told Capt. Steve that he wrote a song the next day (August 15) after his initial trip with Capt. Steve on August 13-14. He came up on September 15 to perform the song at Mudfish Adventures’ headquarters on Toledo Bend. Read More.

Captain Scooby really gets the whole essence of taking someone on a guided fishing trip. This is not just a fishing trip but rather a whole experience with a fishing trip included. We were at our fishing spot in the morning while still dark, but did not immediately start fishing. Instead, he anchored the boat while we drank coffee, ate breakfast and chatted in the peace of the morning. All the while, the Captain was pointing out little hints about the water movement, the sounds on the lake, the insects, etc. and how that relates to bass feeding. When the sun rose, we were able to see the beauty of the lake in a way that few others can because of where he could take us in that incredible boat! His teaching style is so simplistic that we were feeling comfortable with the fly rods in no time and ended the day with one of the best guided trips we’ve had. You will not regret having this outdoor experience and the benefit of Captain Scooby’s knowledge.
