Lastest news from Capt. Steve – Hey crew. Full moon, Toledo Bend Texas USA, Evening 6:00-10:00 pm. Capt’s R&D night had the Big red wing double barrel topwater fly crafted by Mr. Bruce Sublett on my 10 wt Mudfish Short Flyer Fly Rod thinking that’s the fly I’ll wackem on. WRONG. 0 fish. Something happened. Had a waxwing fly crafted by Mr. Bill Huegel on my 8 wt Mudfish Short FLYER FLY ROD see pic-video. I was moving the #gatortailboat forward with the trolling motor on #3 slow speed. Roll casted a wax wing fly with no weight or eyes. Instantly hooked a bass, what was so cool I tangled the 2 lb bass on the reel pulling drag because I only had 15-20 feet of total fly line out. 11 bass for the evening. Lesson always pay attention to your fly speed for water conditions, has to strip very fast. Temperature 85-89. 1-4 ft of water. Air temp 98 DEGREES. Sorry no night bass bites. DA Night BUGs.
